Caroline: Form

So as to not be out-done by Ryan, I thought I better get posting for the Form project as well ;) I too did not take any new photos specifically for this project, but I think there are a few in here that haven't been seen by the general public before.

Ryan: Texture

As promised here are my Texture photographs:

[Grand Canyon, AZ -- Nikon Coolpix 4800]

[Saltford, ON -- Nikon F65]

Ryan: Form

So I figured since Caroline posted something, I should too. Yeah, it has been a while, and I feel bad that we are doing such a poor job of following through with this whole thing. I am not presenting any brand new photos, but hopefully they are new for some of you out there. Hopefully once we all return back to Ontario the photo projects will go smoother.

So with no further ado, I present to you some of my photos of form...

[Victoria Park, Kitchener, ON -- Nikon D70s]

[South Rim, Grand Canyon, AZ -- Nikon Coolpix 4800]

Caroline: Texture

Ok, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling, and I went through some of my photos and picked a few of my favourite texture exhibiting photos. (I decided to skip form for now, as texture seemed easier.) I may revisit this again, but I thought somebody better post something soon, or our fans will get upset ;)

Project 3 - The Essential Elements 3 - Texture in photographs

As promised, here is project 3. I am posting these together just to ensure there isn't as big of a gap between projects. :P
"Texture is the visual interpretation of the tactile surface characteristics of objects. It gives an idea of what surfaces would feel like, so has an important role to play in successful pictures. Because touch is so fundamental to our everyday experience, strong texture in pictures helps to form part of the two-dimensional illusion of reality that is photography."

Project 2 - The Essential Elements 2 - Form that gives substance

It has been a while since our last postings, so it is about time to post the next project (actually I'll be posting projects 2 & 3).
"Whereas shape can be effective as a two-dimensional description of appearance, form adds the third dimension. It gives depth and, hence, reality. The appearance of form depends on the way light strikes an object; the transition from highlight to shadow that produces roundness and solidity."

Ryan's Project 1 Photos (extra credit)

This past weekend found me with some time to take a few photos. I am submitting another, just because I can. This photo is of a blown glass ornament in Joy's front window.

George's Project 1 Photos

Ok, so I finally got around to shooting some more photos, and I got a few that are worth posting.

This last one is a bit of a cheater picture, since I believe I took it before we started Project 1... but I think it emphasizes shape well.

Caroline's Project 1 Photos Revisited

This weekend I had the opportunity to take a few more photos. Here is one I'm calling "morning". I think it is a much more appropriate submission for the shape project than my last attempt, even if it is not as nice a picture.

Ryan's Project 1 Photos

Well tonight's photo session went fairly well. It seems Victoria Park isn't the best place to try to do silhouette--mostly due to the very high concentration of lamps. I do think that we will probably revisit this project again with a little more favourable.

That said, I present you with the best "shape" emphasizing photos I shot tonight.
